Fibres
Fibres are non-digestible components of plant or animal origin. They can be insoluble or soluble in water, and are an important part of human nutrition. Ingested fibres are not absorbed in the intestine and are known to have many health benefits, such as reducing cholesterol and promoting regular bowel movements. They can also help to control blood sugar and body weight. Insoluble fibres in particular can be used to aid digestion and cleanse the intestines, while soluble fibres are known for their ability to help slow the absorption of sugar and help reduce appetite. Fibres can be found in many foods, including fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains.
