Crop Metabolomics
Metabolomics is a relatively new field of research in biology, which deals with the study of the various small molecules in the body, known as metabolites. It is the study of the metabolism, or metabolism-related processes, of living organisms. Metabolomics is used in a variety of agricultural and food science applications, such as crop nutrition, stress management, genetic engineering, and food safety and quality. Crop metabolomics is the study of the metabolic processes in crop plants, and how they are affected by environmental and genetic factors. This helps researchers better understand the interaction of plant and environmental biology, leading to the development of better-adapted crop plants. Crop metabolomics is not only important for understanding the properties and composition of crops, but also in food production, with applications ranging from the analysis of crop nutrients to stress management. In summary, crop metabolomics is an important field of research, which provides new insights into crop science and can be used to develop better crop varieties as well as to ensure food security.
