Trentepohliales

The Trentepohliales is an order of green algae found primarily in freshwater and terrestrial habitats. They are of particular significance due to their varied ecologies and distinctive morphologies. They are often abundant in areas with high nutrient inputs such as streams, lakes, and wetlands. They are used for biomonitoring purposes due to their sensitivity to environmental pollutants and their ability to colonize disturbed ecosystems. They are also of commercial importance, producing valuable biomass resources for food, fuel, and bioprocessing.
