Plant Viral Pathogens
Plant viral pathogens are microscopic organisms which cause diseases in plants. They are composed of either DNA or RNA, and can spread rapidly from one host to another. Plant viral pathogens can cause a wide range of symptoms, from mosaic patterns on leaves to a decrease in yield or even death of the plant. Plant viruses can be managed and controlled through various methods, including chemical, biological and cultural techniques. The use of resistant varieties and quarantine measures are also effective in containing the spread of plant viral pathogens. It is important to recognize and take the necessary measures to protect crops from the damaging effects of plant viral pathogens.
