Plant Transpiration
Plant transpiration is a process of water movement through a plant and its evaporation from aerial parts, such as leaves, stems and flowers. This process is essential for the health of the plant and vital to life on Earth as it enables the transport of minerals and water from the roots to the shoots and leaves. Furthermore, transpiration is an important part of the water cycle and is responsible for the cooling of the plant and for the release of water vapor into the atmosphere. This water vapor is an important part of the global climate and contributes to the formation of clouds. In addition, plant transpiration is used in agriculture to increase the effectiveness of water applications and to improve crop production.
