Plant Stems
Plant stems are the structural support of a plant. They provide a means for transporting water and nutrients between the roots and leaves and can also store energy in the form of carbohydrates. Plants use stems to anchor themselves in the ground, to reach toward the Sun, and to produce flowers and fruits. Stems also protect the plants from environmental hazards and can aid in their reproduction. The presence of stems is vital for the survival of plants, and their importance in the development and growth of plants cannot be overstated.
