Plant Cell Mechanics
Plant cell mechanics is the study of how the physical properties of plant cells affect their growth, development and function. Plant cell mechanics is important for understanding how plants interact with their environment, as well as how plants respond to and recover from various stresses. Plant mechanics is being applied to the development of disease resistant crop varieties, and to improve understanding of how gravity affects the development of plants. Plant cell mechanics is also being used in the development of novel materials and devices, such as bio-inspired materials and plant-based materials and components for bioprinting. Additionally, plant cell mechanics is being utilized in the study of plant cell structure and the intricate mechanisms of cell division.
