Photoperiodism

Photoperiodism is the response of plants and animals to the length of day and night. It is an important factor in the regulation of physiological processes, including growth, flowering and migration, depending on the species. Photoperiodism is typically used in agriculture to manipulate the flowering and timing of crop harvesting, and in the management of resources, like fisheries and forestry. It can also be used to determine the best times for animals to breed and migrate.
