Mycology
Mycology is the study of fungi, including their structure, physiology, ecology and genetics. Fungi play an important role in the environment, where they act as decomposers, breaking down organic matter. They also form symbiotic relationships with plant and animal species, providing essential nutrients and protection for their hosts. Mycology has medical, industrial and agricultural applications, such as drug discovery and production, crop disease control and bioremediation of contaminated soils. Understanding fungi is essential for maintaining proper ecosystem balance and promoting human health.
