Mitochondria

Mitochondria are small organelles found in cells that are responsible for cellular respiration, a process that generates energy in the form of ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate). Mitochondria are essential for the maintenance of life on Earth, as their activity provides the critical energy required for many of our body’s processes, such as muscle movement and digestion. Therefore, mitochondria are extremely important for the health and wellbeing of all living organisms. Mitochondrial dysfunction is also linked to various diseases, and scientists are actively working to develop treatments that target mitochondria in order to treat these diseases.
