Species Interactions

Species interactions refer to the various ways in which different species interact and are linked to each other. Species interactions can be beneficial, neutral, or even harmful, and each type of interaction plays an important role in shaping the diversity of life on Earth. Negative interactions, such as predation and competition, remove individuals from the population and limit their success, while positive interactions between species, such as mutualism and symbiosis, can help species survive and thrive. Understanding species interactions is paramount for the conservation and management of species, both in ecological and evolutionary contexts. By understanding how different species interact, researchers and managers can develop strategies to protect the most vulnerable species and maintain healthy ecosystems.
