Pollination Ecology

Pollination ecology is the study of how organisms interact with flowering plants during the process of pollination. This field of study is important in understanding the maintenance of plant biodiversity, the biological control of pests and diseases, and the maintenance of productivity in managed landscapes. Pollination ecology helps to explain why some plants are more successful than others and which species of pollinators are most effective for a particular plant. It is also useful in determining the impact of human activities, such as land use change, on the pollination of plants. Understanding pollination ecology is necessary for conserving the pollinating species and for developing strategies for increasing crop yields.
