Ocelots

Ocelots (Leopardus pardalis) are small wild cats found in South and Central America as well as Mexico. They are one of the most beautiful and diverse felines with their short-tailed, spotted fur. Ocelots are apex predators and play an important role in maintaining the balance of prey and predator animals in their ecosystems. They are also the main predator of small, native animals, thus helping to prevent overpopulation. Ocelots were once widely hunted for their beautiful fur but are now an endangered species due to habitat loss and degradation. In some areas, ocelots are still hunted and traded as exotic pets.
