Oceanology
Oceanology is the study of the ocean, its unique properties, and its diverse interactions with the environment and human activities. Oceanology is an interdisciplinary field combining aspects of oceanography, geology, chemistry, physics, biology, and other disciplines. It seeks to gain a holistic understanding of our oceans and its role in the planet's climate, environment, and sustainability. Oceanologists use their knowledge to track and predict the impacts of climate change and ocean acidification, to monitor ocean health, and to develop technologies for the safe and sustainable use of ocean resources. They also work to understand the natural cycles and processes that regulate the oceans. Oceanology is important for understanding the Earth's climate, improving our management of coastal regions, and for advancing our knowledge of the oceans and their inhabitants.
