Mutagens

Mutagens are substances or agents in the environment that can cause permanent changes in a genetic sequence. They can be synthetic, like some chemicals, or naturally occurring, like ultraviolet light. Mutagens are important because they can cause a wide range of genetic mutations in organisms, which can influence their appearance, physiology, and behavior. Different types of mutagens can lead to different points of origin for genetic disorders, and can also be associated with cancer and other diseases. As such, it is important to understand how these mutagens can affect our health, and research into various types of mutagens is ongoing.
