Microfossils
Microfossils are fossilized remains of microscopic organisms that lived in ancient aquatic environments. They are important for understanding past environmental conditions and the evolution of the Earth’s biosphere. Microfossils can provide information on the age of sedimentary rocks, paleobiology, and the history of climate change. They are also used for biostratigraphy, a technique that enables scientists to study changes in the abundance of species over time and to determine the timing and rate of past environmental changes. Microfossils are widely used by researchers in ecology, archeology, sedimentology, paleontology, and many other fields.
