Microbial Ecology

Microbial ecology is the scientific study of living microorganisms and the environment they inhabit. It examines the interactions between microorganisms and other organisms, their physical environment, and the biogeochemical cycles of which they are a part. This field has become increasingly important as research has revealed microbes to be far more prevalent, diverse, and influential than previously assumed. Microbial ecology is invaluable for understanding and managing ecosystems, developing disease treatments, and exploring new forms of energy production.
