Macroecology
Macroecology is a field of ecology that focuses on the study of large-scale patterns of interactions among organisms, their environment, and the biosphere. It integrates information from the many branches of ecology, including population ecology, community ecology, and conservation biology. Macroecology is a key component in understanding global ecological change, as well as designing and implementing conservation strategies. It is used to examine the distribution and abundance of species, and their habitat use, as well as to understand the impacts of global change on biodiversity. In addition, macroecology helps scientists model species distributions, identify ecological hotspots, and analyze the potential effects of climate change on species.
