Fossils
Fossils are the remains, imprints, or traces of ancient life preserved in rock or other the sedimentary deposits. They are the primary source of information about the evolution of life on earth and the Earth’s changing environment. Fossils are also used to study past climate and environmental conditions and to determine the age of rocks. They provide critical insight into the history of life on earth and can be used to compare species and determine how they evolved. Fossils are significant because they provide evidence that modern species are evolved from earlier forms and help us understand the history of our planet. They are also important to economic activities such as oil and gas exploration and mining.
