Deforestation

Deforestation is the removal of trees from forests for various purposes such as logging, agricultural expansion, and urbanization. It is a significant global environmental and social problem as it results in decreased air quality, soil erosion, biodiversity loss, and increased greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change. Deforestation has a direct impact on the economy and on people’s livelihoods, especially in developing countries where forests are a major source of livelihood. Reforestation and sustainable forest management are important strategies to mitigate the effects of deforestation and its negative impacts. Solutions such as agroforestry, conservation agriculture, and using alternative fuels can help reduce the pressure on forests.
