Biomass Ecology

Biomass Ecology is the study of how the quantity, composition and distribution of living organisms within an ecosystem affect the environment. It is important for understanding the flow of energy and nutrients through ecosystems, and how different species interact with each other and with their environment. Biomass ecology has important implications for many areas including land management, resource management and conservation. It can help inform decisions such as whether a given area is suitable for agricultural production or should be left in its natural state, and which species of plants and animals should be introduced or removed. Biomass ecology is also important in understanding the roles of species in the food chain and their importance to an ecosystem, and how changes in an ecosystem's biomass can affect the entire community.
