Biodiversity

Biodiversity is the variety and variability of life on earth, which includes the diversity of genetic information, species, ecosystems and ecological processes. It is essential for the functioning of our planet’s ecosystems, providing us with food, fuel, shelter and many other benefits. Biodiversity plays a vital role in maintaining water, carbon, and nitrogen cycles, preserving soil fertility, and controlling climate and infectious diseases. The destruction of biodiversity by human activities has a harmful impact on ecosystems and the services they provide, leading to a decrease in the quality of life. Biodiversity conservation is important to protect ecosystems, and to ensure the sustainability of natural resources and our own survival.
