Surface Chemistry

Surface chemistry is the study of the physical and chemical changes that take place on the surfaces of materials. It is important to the study of catalysts, corrosion, paint, adhesives, and numerous other phenomena. Surface chemistry is important in many industries; it is used in biomedicine, to develop new techniques for drug delivery, and in the production of coatings, paints, and adhesives. It is also used in the study of solar cells, semiconductors, and in the development of new materials. Furthermore, surface chemistry plays an important role in the development of nanotechnology, as well as in other areas such as water purification and energy storage.
