Polypeptides
Polypeptides are short chains of amino acids linked by peptide bonds. They are an important building block for proteins, which are responsible for growth, metabolism, and many other cellular functions. Polypeptides have many diverse applications in biotechnology and medicine. They are used in drug delivery, as vaccines, as diagnostic markers, as enzymes and inhibitors, as protein drugs, and in gene therapy. Due to their small size, they can be rapidly absorbed, making them ideal therapeutic agents. Their ability to bind and activate immune system components has also made them useful in the study of immunology.
