Peptide Chemistry

Peptide chemistry is a branch of biochemistry that focuses on understanding the structure and functions of peptides, which are small molecules composed of amino acids. Peptides play a critical role in numerous biological processes such as metabolism, cell signaling and gene regulation. Through research in peptide chemistry, scientists are able to gain insights into how proteins are synthesized, how they interact with each other and their physiological functions in the body. By increasing our understanding of peptides, scientists are better able to develop novel biochemical tools and therapeutics to tackle a range of medical conditions. Additionally, peptide chemistry is also being applied in industry, such as in the production of food additives, cosmetics and agricultural products.
