Elongation Factors
Elongation factors are proteins that play an essential role in the protein synthesis process. They help RNA polymerase move along a messenger RNA (mRNA) strand in order to attach amino acids to form a new protein. Without elongation factors, cellular functions such as gene expression, cell growth, and metabolism would be disrupted. Elongation factors are therefore critical components of the protein synthesis process and are essential for organism development and health.
