Toddlers

Toddlers are children between 1 and 3 years old. They are in a period of rapid physical and cognitive development. This stage of development is particularly important as it lays the foundations for learning and the development of skills and behaviors that will be carried through to adulthood. Toddlers need plenty of physical activity and playtime to help them reach their developmental milestones and proper nutrition to fuel their growing bodies. Parents and caregivers should use guidance to help toddlers explore and learn in a safe, secure and stimulating environment. During this period, toddlers learn to interact with peers and adults, manage emotions and develop problem-solving skills. Early childhood education programs, including those at preschools and daycare centers, can help promote healthy development.
