Pediatric Infections
Pediatric infections are the most common cause of death in children globally, with the vast majority occurring in developing countries. Pediatric infections can be caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites and may affect any organ or system in the body. These infections can range from mild, self-limiting illnesses to life-threatening conditions, such as pneumonia and meningitis. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment of pediatric infections are essential for reducing long-term complications and preventing mortality. Prevention of pediatric infections through vaccinations and public health measures, such as improved sanitation and hygiene, is also important for reducing the burden of these diseases.
