Elephantiasis

Elephantiasis is a term used to describe a condition caused by certain parasitic infections which cause the enlargement of body parts. The enlargement is usually seen in the arms, legs, genitals, and the area around the testicles. Elephantiasis can cause immense physical and mental suffering, impairing a person’s mobility and ability to work. It can be treated with medications and by removing the parasites in the affected area through surgical methods. It is important to seek medical attention if you experience any of its symptoms as early diagnosis and treatment are essential for a better prognosis. Elephantiasis is a preventable and curable condition through effective public health measures such as immunization, adequate sanitation, and improved access to medical care.
