Viral Tropism
Viral tropism is a property of a virus that determines the type of cell it can infect. A virus may be able to infect multiple cell types, depending on its specific tropism. This property is determined by the combination of receptor molecules present on the surface of the virus and the cell it infects. The understanding of viral tropism can help determine the potential spread of viral diseases, as well as inform the development of antiviral therapies that target the virus’ tropism.
