Vector Control
Vector control is the use of various methods to reduce or eliminate the spread of pathogens, such as those that cause infectious diseases, by controlling their main vector. Commonly employed methods of vector control include the elimination of breeding sites, the use of insecticides, and the introduction of natural predators. Vector control is an important public health tool to reduce the transmission of vector-borne diseases and can be applied in a variety of settings including residential, agricultural, or recreational areas. Vector control can be used in conjunction with other strategies such as vaccination and the provision of clean water and sanitation to further reduce the spread of certain diseases.
