Trichinellosis

Trichinellosis is a zoonotic foodborne parasite infection caused by eating undercooked meat containing larvae of the Trichinella parasite. It is a significant global public health concern due to its high prevalence in some areas and its severe clinical symptoms. Symptoms include gastrointestinal issues, fever, muscle pain, and can be fatal if left untreated. Prevention of trichinellosis includes avoiding eating raw or undercooked pork and game animals, and proper heating and cooking of the meats. If a person is infected, doctors may prescribe anthelmintics to kill the larvae in the person's body. Trichinellosis should be taken seriously and individuals should seek medical attention if they suspect they may have been infected.
