Strongyloides Stercoralis
Strongyloides stercoralis is a parasite that can cause a type of intestinal infection known as strongyloidiasis. This infection is most commonly found in tropical countries, or areas where hygiene is poor. Symptoms of infection include abdominal pain, diarrhea, and malnourishment. Treatment of strongyloidiasis is typically done with medications such as thiabendazole or ivermectin. It is also important to practice good hygiene to prevent the spread of the infection. Strongyloides stercoralis is a significant global health problem as it is difficult to diagnose, making it a neglected tropical disease. Proper diagnosis and treatment can help reduce the spread of this infection, and the morbidity and mortality associated with it.
