Serology
Serology is the study and measurement of antibodies in body fluids and tissues. Antibodies are special molecules that are produced by the body in response to the presence of a foreign substance, such as a virus or bacteria. By measuring the levels of these antibodies, serology can be used to diagnose a range of medical conditions and to monitor the body’s response to treatments. Serology is an important part of diagnosis and treatment of many diseases, including HIV, Lyme disease, and hepatitis. It can also be helpful in identifying whether a person has been vaccinated against certain diseases.
