Rickettsia Rickettsii

Rickettsia Rickettsii is a bacteria species that is responsible for the potentially fatal disease Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Rickettsia are obligate intracellular parasites, meaning they can only survive and replicate within the cells of a host. This disease is predominantly transmitted to humans by infected ticks, and can cause fever, headache, rashes, and even organ failure if left untreated. Early diagnosis and prompt medical care is needed to reduce the risk of serious symptoms, and antibiotics are a common treatment. As this species has been associated with serious illnesses it is of utmost importance to conduct research to gain a better understanding of it and to develop treatment options.
