Rickettsia Prowazekii

Rickettsia prowazekii is a bacterium that can cause a severe, life-threatening disease called typhus. It is transmitted through fleas, lice, and mites, and affects humans and other mammals. Symptoms of the disease include fever, headache, nausea, and skin rashes. It is highly contagious and can be fatal if left untreated. Despite its serious effects, Rickettsia prowazekii has been used for a number of important medical research studies, including the development of vaccines and the understanding of typhus-causing pathogens. This has been essential in improving public health and reducing the rate of fatalities from typhus.
