Pig Parasites
Pig parasites are small organisms that live off their host, pigs, by taking nutrients from their body and causing disease in them. These parasites range from protozoa, fungi, nematodes, and arthropods. They are spread through direct contact with other pigs, ingestion of contaminated feed or water, or through vectors such as rats, poultry, and flies. Pigs infected with parasites can experience weight loss, decreased milk production, or death. To prevent the spread of parasites, good animal husbandry practices such as vaccination, effective sanitation, and deworming are recommended. When properly managed, pig parasites can be controlled and the health of the animals and production levels can be improved.
