Parasitophorous Vacuole

A parasitophorous vacuole (PV) is an organelle found in cells infected with certain parasitic organisms. It is a specialized host-derived membrane bound compartment that is formed when the parasite enters the host cell. PV provides the environment needed for the parasite to survive and replicate within the host cell. It also acts as a barrier to protect the parasite from the host's immune system. This is important for the parasite in order to be able to continue its life cycle and cause disease. In addition, PVs are also known to play a role in the pathogenesis of certain types of infections, as they can facilitate the spread of certain pathogenic agents, such as viruses and bacteria. Furthermore, PVs can be used as a way to identify infections in laboratory tests.
