Parasite Systematics

Parasite systematics is the study of the taxonomy of parasites. This field investigates their evolutionary history and diversity, with the aim of classifying parasites into taxonomic groups such as genera and species based on their morphological, genetic, and biochemical characteristics. It is important in medical research, diagnostics, and epidemiology, as it helps identify parasites so they can be adequately controlled and treated. Parasite systematics is also key to biodiversity research, as it provides insights into the levels of diversity among different parasite species.
