Loiasis

Loiasis is a parasitic infection caused by a worm called Loa Loa. It is transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected fly. Symptoms may include skin blistering, rashes, swelling around the eyes, and joint pain. Affected individuals may experience severe itching and nerve damage due to the worm's migration. Treatment options include anti-parasitic medications, surgical removal of the worm, and topical medications to reduce swelling. Left untreated, Loiasis can cause severe organ damage and even death. Early detection and treatment is the best way to reduce the severity of the infection and protect against long-term complications.
