Foodborne Diseases
Foodborne diseases are illnesses caused by eating contaminated food. They can be caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites, toxins, or chemicals and can affect anyone who consumes the contaminated food. Symptoms vary, but commonly include vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain. In some cases, foodborne diseases can lead to more serious health complications and even death, particularly in the immunocompromised and the very young, elderly, and pregnant. Prompt medical attention and appropriate food safety measures are essential for preventing the spread of foodborne diseases.
