Enterobiasis
Enterobiasis is a parasitic infection caused by the pinworm Enterobius vermicularis. It is one of the most common helminth infections in humans. Symptoms may include itching, restlessness, and irritability around the anus, particularly at night. Diagnosis is based on symptoms and the presence of pinworm eggs in a tape test or found on the perianal skin. Treatment is with medication to kill the worms, such as mebendazole or albendazole. Proper hygiene and laundering of bedding and clothing can help prevent reinfection.
