Brugia Malayi
Brugia malayi is a species of parasitic nematode that is a major cause of lymphatic filariasis in humans. It is spread by vector mosquitoes and, once inside the body, it invades and reproduces in the lymphatic system. The infection can cause long-term symptoms, including swelling and disability. Treatment is available and effective, but Brugia malayi remains a global health burden. Understanding and researching this species is essential for continued development of treatments and prevention strategies.
