Apicomplexa

Apicomplexa is a group of single-celled parasites that cause many diseases in humans, animals, and plants. They are characterized by a complex apical complex, which is the main cell organelle that enables them to infect and feed on their hosts. They can cause serious diseases such as malaria, toxoplasmosis, and cryptosporidiosis. Medical treatments, preventive measures, and control strategies are needed to reduce the burden of disease caused by the Apicomplexa. By understanding their biology, ways to prevent and control infections can be developed and improve the quality of life of those affected by them.
