Pancreatic Enzymes and Hormones
Pancreatic enzymes and hormones are proteins produced by the pancreas, an organ located in the abdomen. These enzymes and hormones are essential for proper digestion, nutrient absorption, and metabolic regulation. Pancreatic enzymes break down large molecules of food into smaller molecules that can be absorbed. Hormones produced by the pancreas, like insulin and glucagon, play important roles in regulating blood sugar levels. Deficiencies in pancreatic enzymes and hormones can result in digestive problems and health conditions such as diabetes. Although no substitutes for these enzymes and hormones exist, treatments for their deficiencies and associated conditions can be managed with lifestyle modifications, medications, and supplements.
