Pancreatic Amylin
Pancreatic Amylin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that plays a key role in glucose metabolism and has potential implications for the treatment of diabetes and obesity. It works together with insulin to regulate the levels of glucose in the blood after meals, by slowing the rate of digestion and suppressing the release of glucose from the liver. In people with diabetes, Amylin is either absent or present in very low levels, leading to an increase in post meal glucose levels. Supplementation of Amylin may be a possible option to help normalize the blood glucose levels in individuals with diabetes. Additionally, research suggests that it may help reduce food intake, thus increasing its potential benefit in the management of obesity.
