Duodenum
The duodenum is the first part of the small intestine and is an important part of the digestive system. It measures around 25 cm in length and serves as the entry point into the small intestine for both digestive enzymes and food, which it then breaks down into smaller particles. The duodenum absorbs essential nutrients and vitamins and also acts as a filter by removing potentially harmful toxins. It is also responsible for controlling the release of hormones involved in digestion and metabolism. The duodenum plays a crucial role in maintaining general health and overall digestive health.
