Abdominal Hysterectomy

Abdominal hysterectomy is a surgical procedure in which a woman’s uterus is removed through an abdominal incision. It is the most common type of hysterectomy and is generally recommended for cases of severe uterine conditions, such as cancer or fibroids, as well as for certain complications of childbirth. Abdominal hysterectomy can also be used to treat urinary incontinence, chronic pelvic pain, and severe endometriosis. The removal of the uterus may lead to improved quality of life and relief of symptoms for the patient. Recovery times and risks associated with the procedure vary depending upon a woman’s individual health status.
