HAART

Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) is a combination of antiretroviral drugs used to treat HIV and AIDS. Taking HAART reduces the amount of virus in the body and helps to boost the immune system, leading to improved survival rates and better quality of life for those living with HIV and AIDS. In addition, HAART is also often used to reduce the risk of HIV transmission to others. Adherence to HAART is essential for its effectiveness, due to the fact that any gap in treatment may allow the virus to become resistant to the drugs. This makes it important for those taking HAART to keep up with regular doctor visits and follow the prescribed dosage schedule.
