Distress

Call A distress call is a communication sent out when a person, ship, airplane, or other vessel is threatened by grave and imminent danger and requests immediate assistance. Distress calls are most often transmitted via radio, satellite, or emergency beacon. They are an important safety measure, allowing those in danger to inform potential rescuers of their location and specific situation. Distress calls also allow rescuers to plan an accurate and timely response. In an emergency, a distress call can be the difference between life and death.
